The process of design at Studio Lord is customer driven. We work closely with clients to assure a successful design and that all requirements are met. Our task is to translate the desired concepts into spatial work that combines functionality, practicality, and poetic visual language.
The design process is composed of four stages:
1. Program analysis and offer
First we make a site visit to analyze and document space, lighting conditions, and its current condition and layout. We discuss in detail project requirements, client ideas and expectations, and available budget. This visit is always without charge.
An estimate is made based on the number of required design and project management hours and sent to the client for approval. Once this is confirmed, we move forward to the next phase.
2. Schematic or sketch design
Based on the analysis from the last step, Studio Lord Interior Architecture presents several sketch designs where different possibilities and solutions are explored. These can take the form idea collages, 2D sketches and/or 3D models. We stay in this phase until both client and designer are ready to choose a definite design and move forward.
3. Design development
Once a definite design is chosen, material choices are made and technical details worked out. Technical drawings or construction documents are produced so that the design is documented down to the smallest detail and ready to be produced or implemented.
4. Project management
The client may choose to work with a known contractor/builder, or Studio Lord can assist in requesting estimates from contractors and/or furniture makers for the implementation of the design. The designer provides any further information needed by the builder and stays involved with the client and builder throughout the building process up to inspecting the final build.
