Inspired by the wings of butterflies, The hinge shelf is a sum of its possibilities. This shelf needs to bend, to lie flat, to be transported, and to fit in multiple spaces. It is designed to fit where it stands now, and can be adapted to future situations. Each side is demountable into two pieces for transport and fits together at any needed angle. By setting the two halves only partially into each other, the corner spaces can be easily filled and accessed.

Hinge Shelf is self supporting when folded.

The commissioners of this work are from two different countries, living and working in a third, working with a designer from a fourth, for a book shelf which will go with them in their travels. A truly international collaboration!
