Material: reclaimed floor planks, plywood
Execution: Stephen McConnell, Signed Interieur Architectuur
Photos of the near-completed “Hotel Bed” project. The assignment was to provide a place for guests to sleep, storage under and next to the bed, including a closet, shelving, and seating. The double-sided DVD shelf rolls away for access to storage under the bed.
Two sizes of stacking boxes made from recycled planks form nooks and crannies for shelving and semi-transparency. Three boxes create a hinged door which can be shut for privacy and screening off the space. Guests have their own home away from home, a place to put their things, and a feeling of privacy without being shut in.
